Artifacts from old communities around Bangkok including Talard Noi, Samphanthawong district and Sala Chalermkrung Royal Theatre, Phra Nakorn district are put on display at The Mall Bang Kae department store. Under the concept Once Upon A Time, the exhibition showcases Bangkok life in the 1960s. Once Upon A Time runs from April 19 to 25.

Fans of Lady Gaga show up early on Friday outside Bangkok's Rajamangala Stadium where the pop superstar was to perform as part of her ``Born this Way'' concert tour on Friday evening. Many of the fans at the venue wore outfits inspired by Lady Gaga's provocative costumes.

The King, who has been staying at Siriraj Hospital since Sept 2009, visited Thung Makham Yong district in Ayutthaya where he harvested rice back in 1996.

Over a thousand supporters of the People's Alliance for Democracy (PAD) continue to rally against the government's reconciliation bills outside parliament. A House meeting scheduled for deliberation of the bills was postponed as yellow shirts surrounded the building, forcing many MPs to leave from a special exit. Around 4,500 police officers have been deployed to secure the building.

An ensemble of culturally diverse musicians performs live at Scala Theatre on June 6 at the screening of an 87-year-old silent film that opens the International Buddhist Film Festival 2012 Bangkok. The Light of Asia is a 1925 German-Indian epic that was the world's first picture ever made on the life of Lord Buddha. Fourteen years since lead contamination at Klity Creek first came under the media spotlight, the Karen residents of Lower Klity in Kanchanaburi are still dealing with an environmental disaster. In February the Appeal Court upheld a lower court ruling ordering Lead Concentrates Co to pay 36 million baht in compensation to villagers suffering from lead contamination – yet an appeal to clean up the creek was dismissed. Although the company’s ore-processing plant has closed, villagers claim it has left a legacy of blindness, birth defects and mental disability. Video by Chumporn Sangvilert.

Up to 600 million baht in damages was caused by an explosion and fire at the Bangchak Petroleum refinery in Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Soi 64 on Wednesday morning, according to the oil firm’s president. Anusorn Saengnimnual confirmed an insurance company would pay for the damage and that Bangchak has confidence in the refinery’s safety system and will continue to use it. No-one was injured or killed.
