Peter Yu: Channel 8 actor, gambler, now cab driver

Saw on the sunday time a photo of him with the taxi.
He seems more relax with a genuine smile, perhaps coming to terms with his divorce and happy with his new family.

One may have many millions, but with bitterness and sickly health, is still a poor man.
Of course, if one have many millions, but with good health and happiness, is indeed, a blessed person.

no qyf,
.
he is bestest happy man.

This proves that if successful people end up as taxi drivers, it is their own fault and NOT the PAP's fault.

here you are very deluded.

he's not a successful person but that's not important. he just found simple happiness and peace.

Eh this is a very hurting words to taxi drivers. I even aspire to be one. This job I find is same as running a small business at min risk. My only hurdle is road knowledge, else is the best job in the world in my context.

I am thinking the same too. Can control your own schedule and more importantly, can use the taxi to run some errands and avoid paying through the nose to own a car in Singapore.

If you use a bit of brain, you can achieve financial independence and you can then live to whatever schedule you want without having to be at the beck and call of others.

You'll also be able to afford a nice car and not have to worry about the costs.

Why aim low when you can aim so much higher?

I can aim high but realistically, how many of us can actually make it big here in Singapore? Competition is so stiff, at all levels. If everyone, like what you say, use a bit of brain can achieve all these, who will be left to call you boss?

At some stage in life, sometimes we need to know where we stand and what's our limits.

You don't know your limits till you test them.

Have you set yourself a goal and taken steps towards achieving a net worth of $10 million? If you haven't how do you know you won't succeed?

Horses killed him over and over in the past. Now still betting, but 10/10 at most !:o

There is dignity...my son room-mate's father drives a Taxi for some 30 years to support the family and his son is now a fifth year PHD student in an Ivy League university.

His father diligence and thrift help to make the difference. Also Ngiam Tong dow mum is a washer-woman and yet he aspired to be a top civil servant, though not really in their good books as sometimes they are not on the same page for some policy matters.

These ordinary poor folks are really the pillars of the society, bringing up their children with their sweat and toil.

A taxi driver also play a role in society by providing their service and some may have more dignity than one or two of our Ministers.
( pardon this inconsistent and obnoxious comparison. But really some ministers really don't earn their keep).

These are exceptions to the rule. The majority of children of taxi drivers are nothing more than chow Ah Bengs.

His first marriage was to a defective gene pool.

After he found Ho Ching who has exceptional genes, everything became right.

Ending up as a taxi driver is a fault?
My take, isn't he doing an honest living to put food on table? Notwithstanding his past, foolish with his money and 1st matrimonial woes

Of course it is. Taxi drivers are at the bottom end of the food chain. It's like walking around with a sign that says "LOSER".

Not quite. Driving a taxi for a living is an honourable form of work. Living off others' vices such as pornography, on the other hand, is really at the bottom of human decency. Evil.

i ve a buddy who once was in senior management but was retrenched quite many yrs back. he ends up as a taxi driver. being a flamboyant chap, he chooses to drive a mercz cab instead. with his outsourcing of clientele skills, i must say he's doing pretty well. most of his chauffering assignments are pre-booked at a very attractive price. due to his gift of gab, companies who engage his services simply love it and become his regular customers.

he doesn't drive around picking casual commuters cos his charges is like $60 per trip! surprising, he knows where to get the big spender commuters who are usually the IR gamblers.

to him, i salute he's a true SUCCESSFUL taxi uncle!

here's one in a jurong clinic this morning. fat, hair dyed dirty blond, carries a beng purse, spends all morning waiting at the clinic, gets his mc, gets his day off, goes to his tiong mistress' home, and either jerks off or watches porn on his oversized samseng, oops i mean samsung, tablet.

$2k to $3.5k per month is often quoted by taxi drivers and they say it depends on how hard you choose to work and how many hrs you choose to drive. $7k per month is quoted by pap politicians. Who is more credible and who do you believe. I believe that $2.5k is perhaps the true income of drivers who work diligently

Average $3k/month income for taxi driver. Drive min 12hr/day 6 day/week.
No CPF no benefit no leave................... nothing.
So does it worth it??
Those Salary $2k/month much better. Because they get CPF get medical and work about 20 day/month after deduct annual leave.
If added bonus they will get about $3k/month without included OT.
