Have you people ever wondered
have you ever wondered? why must we serve?
coz we love our land & we want it to be free, to be free, yah!
this 3 stripes know how to sing this song? this 3 stripes know our pain? does the father know? i truly wonder...
Some many moons ago, in a cold & foreign land, guarding the ammo dump & staring into the cold night skies, " I wondered too"!, wondering if I could have some years of Nation Slavery disruption. The father(s) don't feel, what the COMMON MAN, like us, feel!
So let's go down to the "details" of this seeming transparent revelation without it being sieved thru a truly independent inquiry with trusted identities. So why the fear of putting it thru a neutral party. So did Tony Tan get the legendary 2nd egg in his Kway Teow.
Actually, just ask that simple question, did the other two who studied in US got 12 years disruptions? That does it. If so, yes, who are their parents? Did they become MO or a "sergent scientist"?

but can't feel it :o
There is an old saying, if you are in a hole, stop DIGGING. I am afraid whilst Dr Ng's answers may have answered Dr Janil's pre scripted question it has not answered the key question and has raised more issues.
a. There were a total of 1026 NSF's disrupted in the period. following which OVERSEAs disruption for medical studies were not allowed. Only three were disrupted in the US, three out of 126 in that period. And whilst I would love to know who the other two were and their names, the following salient points come through. THEY both disrupted until the end of their medical studies whether in the US (9 ) or in the US followed by Ireland (12) and they both BECAME doctors because as even NG ENG HEN admitted There was a need for medical graduates i.e doctors and not some cocked up MEDICAL scientist.
b. Then there was a serious of spurious and laughable examples about why a STRAIGHT through PHD disruption for Patrick was allowed ( Non Medical ) examples and why Patrick was unique. Insanely enough whilst many of us would have said a genius 14 year old might be exceptional , not forgetting the lack of discretion shown to Melvin Tan ( Pianist ) and more talented then patrick tan who btw has not found the cure for cancer. We have PSC scholars and Rhodes Scholars who did disrupt for similar periods but then again Was P Tan firstly a PSC scholar or even a Rhodes Scholar ? And yes btw he was smart enough not to take a government scholarship and the resultant bond.
Fuck
Lockeliberal
did Dr. Patrick Tan go for his IPPT then?

You really think you are Generalissimo but forgot to minus 10 ranks is it?
There were tons of EDB/NCB CORPORAL (where got Sergeant then) scientists serving their NS in EDB, ITI, NUS etc.
even with Ng coming out to tok, it is obvious what happened. 12 yr disruption from NS is virtually unheard of....simple maths say , 18 + 12 = 30, 30 year old man, cat simi liao ?cheong simi lan jeow?
to think, a national footballer cannot even get disruption to represent his nation in a crucial WC qualifier but a white horse son can stay away for 12 year to research on soil speaks as such.
No man is equal in this world...
I rather Ng just stand up and say - look, he is special becos he is white horse...rather than wayang and give laser show to try to mask the thingy.
Let me point to all a very good example of one Rhodes Scholar who earned himself a Dr. of Philosophy in biochemistry (Oxford University). He underwent his stint in NS, received the Sword Of Honour, went on to higher achievements in civil life, and undergoing his reservist duties at the same time. I also need to point out he received many outstanding awards in his career. Yes, I am referring to Dr. Ong Teck Chin who somehow tarnished his name recently for inappropriate behaviour. Let us not dwell into that part of his life but the part where his studies mirrors that of Patrick Tan who somehow got 12 years derferment.
I quote from Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ong_Teck_Chin):
"
Ong Teck Chin (Chinese: 王德进) (born 1949) is a Singaporean educator. He was formerly the Principal/CEO of Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), and resident warden of its boarding school.

I keep telling you guys. There are a gazillion of EDB/NCB (plus a couple of NSTB though these were rare then) scholars who disrupted their NS for equally long periods of time. These are not white or golden horses but sons of washer women and hawkers. That was a time when admission into one of the Ivy League universities almost guaranteed disruption (and even a scholarship).
Just because you guys don't know about it doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Why do you think I am so specific in saying NCB instead of IDA?
Porfirio Rubirosa said:u just dont get it...yr egs r totally irrelevant...
generally only govt scholars(with bond) get disruption fm NS...patrick tan was not a govt scholar(which comes wif a bond)...cld hv been if he wanted to as he was a prez scholar but did not take it up becoz of the bond...
