I didn't know it is so crazy now. Now sheng siong got an automated plastic bags dispenser. I pay 5 cents, it will give me a plastic bag from vault. machiam so precious. Don't tell me that our country is giving some sort of grant to install such automation.

In NTUC, they will station a person, just to allocate plastic bags when I do self check-out after paying. Will we hike to 10 cents or 20cents per bag to justify the additional cost of labour?

Giant and Cold Storage are worst. After I do self-checkout, I got to show cashier my receipts to get the plastic bags that I needed/paid.

Kopitiam Plastic Lids
A few years ago, major kopitiams stopped giving straws. I boycotted them. Some resumed giving straws now. But the most environmentally-stupid thing is that overnight, almost all of them start to use thick disposable plastic lids to replace the straws. Don't this create more plastic waste?

Anyway, Singapore does not have refuse problem in our waterways. Local-born Singaporeans also don't really litter these days. Do you know that paper straws contains a lot of "forever" plastics which will be absorbed into your body? Why assume that we are some third world country anyhow throw rubbish and stop using plastic straws?

Charging for plastic bags in Singapore (for the sake of environmentalism) is like fear-porn to me. It is meaningless and lowers our standard of living. In Singapore, we used to recycle these rubbish bags to organize our garbage or food-waste, now rats-infestation has worsened in Singapore.
