<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->Charged with the murder of his father, the fair-complexioned, bespectacled man stared into space.
At about 9.10am yesterday, Ho Wei Yi, 29, wearing a red polo T-shirt and dark blue pants, appeared in the Subordinate Courts. No family members were seen.
When the charge was read to him in English, he merely nodded.
Last Wednesday night, his father, church pastor Michael Ho Shiong Chun, 58, was found dead in the master bedroom toilet of their flat in Block110, McNair Road.
His body was found after the Singapore Civil Defence Force put out a fire that broke out at about 10pm. The next morning, the police arrested Ho in a shopping mall near Novena train station.
In court yesterday, it was revealed that Ho had been a patient of the Institute of Mental Health and that he had shown 'signs of relapse' during investigations.
He has been remanded for psychiatric assessment.
If found guilty of murder, he faces the death penalty.
The pastor's body was claimed from the mortuary last Friday. A memorial service has also been held.
Ho will appear in court again on Aug21.
