A CONDOLENCE LETTER FROM LOW THIA KHIANG TO PM LEE
Post date:
23 Mar 2015 - 9:47am

Dear Prime Minister,

On behalf of the Workers’ Party, I wish to convey my deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of your father, Mr Lee Kuan Yew.

Mr Lee was Singapore’s first Prime Minister, heading the Government for over three decades and thereafter serving another 21 years in the Cabinet as Senior Minister and Minister Mentor. He led Singapore with a group of like-minded individuals through our tumultuous early years of nationhood, including a difficult merger with Malaysia and subsequent independence in 1965.

Mr Lee served in public office for almost his entire adult life. His passing marks an end of an era in Singapore’s history. His contributions to Singapore will be remembered for generations to come.

With deepest sympathies,

LOW THIA KHIANG
Secretary-General, Workers’ Party
Member of Parliament for Aljunied GRC

"He has been here since early morning. He won't eat but we have been giving him water. We are watching out for him. We all have to watch out for each other.

We should try to be kind to each other right now. You cannot tell from people's faces how they may feel. I keep thinking of my own father's death. People told me how strong I was but I was crying inside."

HAHAHA I suspect all these mad sinkes were ex victim of pappy law, some came back to pray for 4D, some just sit there blankly, probably escape from IMH.

Re: PM LEE speech jin emo

You have yet to see him cry aloud in this coming erection!

Using money and tears for votes! loL

This is a joyous day, so we should listen to a joyous song filled with hope for the future.

Re: PM LEE speech jin emo

Everything has already been preplanned. On the very morning when the death is announced, equipment has already been set up in the heartlands for the public to pay their tributes. You would not even get half this efficiency in real life.

Including revoking the use of Speakers corner.

Or he's the cleaner who is dismayed at the amount of cleaning up he has to do. :D

Re: International leaders pay tributes to LKY. But wheres Malaysia??

Between these 2 persons, there's hundreds more. Are you sure "everyone" has sent (at the time of your post) their condolences already? Malaysia was one of the earliest to send in theirs.

In johore, they are celebrating. the sultan announce a holiday for the state today. Now maybe we can have that bridge instead of a causeway to developed a sustainable marina and boating culture amongst the locals.

Malaysian Tonychat is celebrating behind his PC.

A gun carriage will carry Mr Lee Kuan Yew's coffin from Istana to Parliament House on Wednesday.

Special traffic arrangements have been made for the wake and state funeral.

On Wednesday morning, Orchard Road (between Buyong Road and Selegie Road), Bras Basah Road (between Selegie Road and North Bridge Road) and North Bridge Road (between Bras Basah Road and North Boat Quay) will be closed from 8.45am to 9.30am.

There may be delays along these affected roads as well. Vehicles parked illegally along these roads will be towed away, the Traffic Police said on Monday.

From Wednesday to Saturday, the body of the late Mr Lee will lie in state at Parliament House, where the public can pay their respects between 10am and 8pm daily.

Lanes and roads around Parliament House will be closed to vehicular traffic at various times starting from 8.30am on Wednesday until 8pm on Sunday.

The affected stretches are on Fullerton Road, Parliament Place, Saint Andrew's Road, Connaught Drive and North Bridge Road.
