PAP to give out rebate ahead
of more taxes before next GE
December 31st, 2010 | Author: Editorial
With the next general election expected to
be called in early 2011, the PAP regime has
started to give out its usual ‘ang pows’ to
’sweeten’ the ground.
According to Channel News Asia, some
800,000 Singaporean HDB households
will be receiving about S$50m worth of
Utilities-Save (U-Save) rebates in
January 2011.
Depending on the household type, a
Singaporean family can receive up to
$190 in ‘rebate’, which is ‘peanuts’
considering the relentless hikes in
electric tariffs in the last few years.
The ‘rebates’ will surely bring much
relief to ordinary Singaporeans
struggling to meet ends meet which
may generate positive public
sentiments ahead of the coming
general election.
The PAP regime is expected to give
out more ‘goodies’ when the budget
is announced in February next year
and another ‘progress package’ may
be thrown in like in 2006 to ‘encourage’
Singaporeans to vote ‘wisely’.
As the PAP propaganda machinery
moves into high gear, Singaporeans
can expect to be bombarded with
a heavy dose of such ‘good news’
in the days ahead.
