The average joes and the poor in Singapore basically are having a raw deal with so many foreigners brought in to take away the PMET and lower end jobs .....

Not only are jobs taken away, but also the level of pay is depressed with these foreigners easily given access here ......

Funny you should mention this. The median monthly income of the SG is $2.4K. It has been proven that 2.4K per month can support a small family. Just before you claim it's Bullshit from PAP, that article about 2.4K supporting a family was written by SDP.

And since we all know most Sgreans have both parents at work, the median family income should be about $4.8K per month. If 2.4K a month can support a family, 4.8K a month = whole family can go eat wind at least once a year after subtracting expenses. So the article above may not be that far fetched

I dun understand what u are saying. If the median income is $2.4k, that means that half of all sinkies earn less than that. If that is the case the question of whether they can afford on their household income to buy a flat or not is still very relevant.

Not sure if U have ever taken statistic in school? if the median income is 2.4K. The vast majority of the population will be earning close to that amount. And note that this is only 1 person. As stated earlier, most families have 2 working adults.

I think u are the one who has not taken stats in school. median income is simply the amount which divides the income distribution into two equal groups, half having income above that amount, and half having income below that amount. That means that half of sinkies earn above this amount, and the othe rhalf earns below this $2.4K. It is NOT an Indication as to what the vast majority of the population is earning.

I think u are talking about mean income, which is what the average sinkie would earn. Go and read some stats book first, than come back here.

Yes, the median income has no correlation to whether they can afford flats or not. In my opinion, I think its better to take the average income of those people earning below the median income of $2.4K. This would be a better stats.
