Very hard to explain why there is still a strong attachment to Kong Kee despite the fact that he and his team has misappropriated church funds for Sun Ho's music career. The verdict is out, but not all of the church members have accepted the fact of the wrongdoing. Perhaps, they don't see any wrongdoing at all. All the movement of funds into sham bonds and cover-up for losses don't mean a thing to them since they view that the Church did not suffer a loss and none of the team member has benefited financially from it. At this juncture, Kong Kee and the team are appealing against the verdict and sentencing.
It could be the man's charisma. They have been with Kong Kee and Sun Ho for so many years. I won't be surprised that the emotional and even spiritual attachment to Kong Kee is so deep rooted that whatever wrong the leader has committed against the church, they are willing to forgive him and continue to put their faith in him. My fear is that the adoration of Kong Kee has become cultic.
