<!-- START OF : div id="storytext"--><!-- more than 4 paragraphs -->ON A recent trip to Singapore with my young family, I was pleased to note that most of the toilet facilities now include child-friendly urinals. We were most impressed that such a facility was present not only in the tourist areas, but also in suburban neighbourhood shops. My four-year-old son was delighted he was able to use the toilet with minimal hassle.
The absence of a child-friendly urinal in most buildings at home means fathers have to hoist their sons to urinate, often leading to them groaning in pain from the grip or complaining about the uncomfortable position.
In Singapore, my son felt equal to adults, and this helped validate his toilet-going experience. So, thank you to all, from policy planners to building owners, who have been thoughtful in helping to make this small but notable facility an important validating and learning experience for our 'little men'.
