What are booster doses?​

A booster dose is a dose of a vaccine that is given to someone who is already vaccinated and received protection from that vaccination, but that protection decreased over time.

• Booster doses are administered to a vaccinated population that has completed a primary vaccination series (currently one or two doses of EUL COVID-19 vaccine depending on the product) when, with time, the immunity and clinical protection has fallen below a rate deemed sufficient in that population. Persons who had received three doses of COVID-19 vaccines as part of a primary vaccination series incorporating the Sinovac-Coronavac vaccine are recommended to receive a booster dose of either the Pfizer-BioNTech / Comirnaty or Moderna mRNA vaccines 5 months after completing their primary series.

This also applies to persons who were fully vaccinated with the Sinopharm vaccine or other WHO EUL vaccines.

Yes, the article claimed that must take 2 Pfizers + 3 Sinopharm to be valid as booster-shot completed.

My opinions - She had 2 pfizers and in October last year, she took her first sinopharm. October 2021 was the month that Sinopharm became widely available in Singapore. She is indeed a rare case of self-initiated booster takers. In October 2021, hardly anyone was taking boosters.

My opinions - This doctor's opinion is untrue. He claimed that those who started on 2x mRNA and wished to change to Sinovac or Sinopharm, must take 3 doses of either. Before Dec 2021 announcement (above paragraph), anyone who took 1 x mRNA + single Sinovac/Sinopharm were considered fully vaccinated (including healthworkers than I know). After Dec 2021, these folks were requested to take another Sinovac/Sinopharm to make up 3 doses, like those who took two doses of Sinovac/Sinopharm.

Nobody who took 1 x mRNA were told to take 3x Sinovac/Sinopharm. Therefore, MOH will not contradict and demand Singaporeans with 2 x mRNA to take 3 x Sinovac/Sinopharm. As such, the information cited from the doctor was dubious.
