DON’T CONFLATE COVID-19 MEDALS WITH WORKPLACE ISSUES

We refer to Dr Winston Lee’s letter “COVID-19 medals not the best way to show appreciation to healthcare workers” (Dec 16).

The COVID-19 Resilience Medal is a national award to honour the substantive contributions of those who participated directly in Singapore’s fight against COVID-19. As this was a major global pandemic crisis that required a concerted national effort to overcome, there were many awardees.

To recognise and appreciate the awardees and at the same time cater to the large number of awardees, the Ministry of Health (MOH) and MOH Holdings organised a five-day event that let them share the moment with family members and friends who supported them during the national crisis.

The event was simple and dignified, and contrary to Dr Lee’s comment, not extravagant.

Dr Lee also raised other issues such as work environment and remuneration. While these may be valid issues, they are not to be conflated with the awarding of the COVID-19 Resilience Medal. MOH has consistently tried to address such issues, and has introduced initiatives over the years to ensure that our healthcare workers have a meaningful and rewarding career.

Over the years, we have been able to recruit our fair share of talent, which indicates that healthcare remains an attractive and respected sector, even as we continue to strive for improvement.

Wuhan virus does not appear to be as deadly as SARS, Singapore PM says

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Singapore's prime minister said on Friday that the city-state was well prepared to tackle the Wuhan flu virus, adding that it did not appear to be as deadly as the 2003 Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) pandemic.

Typical PAP . Cannot even accept constructive criticism.
Worse than that. They think they know everything, can never do wrong, are always right, blames everyone else, steals your money and says it all for your own good.
Fuck them

Dr. Lee is extremely greedy to ask for more monetary reward.
Does he aware that health workers have been receiving numerous times of salary increments and extra bonuses, compared to workers in other industries.
Other industries workers also helped to fight the Covid-19 and suffered sacrifices, such as cleaners and front line transportation workers. But they have received no such lucrative pay increases and extra bonuses at all like health care workers.
What else do the health care workers want?

PAP feeling is made of snowflake. It melts easily over small heat. They always prepare handkerchief in parliament for a reason.
Well, they are different Ah Gong Generation liao

Imagine being so deluded to give yourselves an award for rolling out the death jabs to 95% of the population, and probably deliberately killing many more in hospitals.

'Healthcare heroes' eh?
