Lol, thanks. I don't know if people know about this. But Penang is further up north and about 3-4 hours drive to the Thai Border.
Well, on the other hand, it is "just" a 5 to 6 hour drive from JB.
unless you drive ferrari or lamborghini and has traffic police clearing all traffic for you. otherwise is quite unlikely to reach penang in 6 hours time.

thot of buying a property there too, cos Penang is a nice place and the food is excellent, but the horrendous island traffic can even make saints evil, not to mention the time taken to get there from here.
I have rode and driven and finally decided the best way is the quick flight up north
Happy New Year

Believe me, it has been done without the need of any ultimate driving machines or escort.
Yes flight would be the best. 1hour+ I believe. Airasia would stop in Senai in JB. SIA has a direct flight as well but of course at a premium. Don't be surprise about the house prices in Penang Island. Some can go up to a Mil RM if I'm not mistaken. There are also a lot of Korean, Japanese living there. Korean air has flights there straight from Seoul as well. Rumors also has it a lot of HK, Taiwanese movie, music stars have 2nd homes there as well.
Up to a million rm? Most sea facing condos are over one million. Sp setia launched a condo at Gurney drive with units starting from 2milion to 7millon for penthouse
Indeed, sorry about the typo, was gonna write above 1mil rn.
No worries, Penang also has a vibrant economy thanks to the mnc plants and factories set up to take advantage of the FTZ and good, location, easy access to the sea
Yah, I actually worked in one those MNC many years ago. Its, not as "developed" as Singapore. But I kind of like the rustic feel of it. Many cheap and good food there as well. Hokkien, is a bit different, but people would be able to understand what you are saying, mostly.
Apartment living is starting to be the way to go.i see. So you must be familiar with the property market in Penang - any good gem there? Yes in Penang, surprisingly the food consumer prices are falling way behind property prices.
