Opposition singing the same song?

seems almost all of my posts in this thread are now immortalized in quotes

Most of the time, voters say "Opposition lacked creditability. No good opposition" as though it is the fault of the opposition and not our own fault. The indifference build up over 40 years actually created the weak opposition of the present day.

Most of the time, opposition say "PAP is not fair" as though being fair is the intention of the PAP. If you consider all the governments in developing countries, PAP is actually very fair.

Therefore it makes better sense to see what you can do rather than what others prevented you from doing.

This applies to both voters and opposition.

Although this thread is about the opposition creating value for voters, it does not mean that it is out to do the PAP in.

Rather it is to give the voters more credible choices. An opposition is always good to ensure honesty in government. It enhances a process which makes politics a system rather than a person. And if it can create an alternative, then it adds immeasurable value to our lives.

At the end of the day, this thread is not about voting Republican or Democrat. It is rather about enhancing our choices, because a second opinion is always good.

We all have roots in Singapore. Our parents grown up here and feel at home here. Our children may find this a comfortable place to stay. Therefore it makes sense to use our votes, which is our birthright, to bring in the future we want.

But if we have no choices to exercise our birthright, then the scope of our own life is limited.

If you feel the above makes sense, then add in your own value. Whether you vote PAP or otherwise after that is NOT the issue. The issue is that now you have good choices. And these choices lead to our collective future.

Too many opposition parties in SG. Look at the US, which Chee supposedly gets his support from. Two main parties, Republican and Democrat. Singapore--so many bickering parties.

There should never be any opposition members because sinkees do not deserve any help at all. I will personally do my bid for sg by screwing a few sinkees and making some money for myself in the process since sinkees enjoy being screwed so much.

very difficult for opposition to survive here or the party to stay long.
too many parties is one of the reason.
the other is everyone also want to be the opposition's leader or party's leader.
so if he/she cannot get what they want, they will just resign from the party and start a new party.
if you have been following the opposition parties, you will notice that most of the so call "oldies" or key appointment holders are either from WP or SDP.

My knowledge of politicians is very limited.

So it seems that the probability of an effective opposition has to come from within the ranks of the PAP....first-team PAP, second-team formerly-PAP

other than raising the probability of a wayang show or an old-boys' club, it would appear that voters will still have limited choices....

still it is something to ponder....the current crop of opposition, all from the same vein.....and fighting each other

SGporeans are not dumb. If the opposition stop is "steer their own way" actions, place both democratic ideas and credible policies foward, they could have been much better. All the had was lying low--PP and Hougang. Fluke shots came like winning when the other side shook and washed hands, but the next election they lost--(SDP supporters still cannot answer why Ling won once but lost the next round)

PAP running dog what happened to Tay Cheng Wan, Wee Toon Boon, Phey Yew Cock etc .....

yes Ling won and lost the election but he is NOT a criminal!

and the corruption of the century - your PAP scums-in-white paying themselves millions doing fuck all!

Firstly, your knowledge is limited to swear words. if that is the state of the opposition, i would fully agree. All bad mouths.

Secondly, Ling could have held on to his seat if he promoted proper policies in his time, and not just be known for saying "don't talk cock"--(Shows again the greate language of the opposition)

it's a clear question of character integrity, honesty and genuinity. can we find this in the opp? and now the newcomers who are even more dubious and who dare not clarify their stances as SDP members. as supporters, it's ambiguity.

how to convince the peasants?

So easy to swear and curse on the SDP website too.

1) you stole temple funds

2) you bashed your father

3) you stole passwords

4) you stole handphones

5) you con property

EMPTINESS IS FORM...FORM IS EMPTINESS....
you must be the snake who knows all.....:)

guys...maybe all of you should go for a drink and see each other as human beings?

JBJ held on to his Anson constituency for the second time, but the corrupt PAP regime used its compliant judiciary to put the elected MP "through a series of mistrials for offences that he did not commit". After wrongly "convicting" JBJ, the dictatorial Lee regime deprived him of his rightful place in parliament. So much for PAP elections and respect for voters wishes!!

Are PAP-staged elections free and fair?? Why a PAP department orchestrates the elections to "fix" the opposition and "engineer" the results?? Why not have a commission for a start??

Granted that is true, but Ling was lucky enough to win because the other side washed hands. But what did Ling do during his time as MP? Wasn't he just known for saying "Don't talk cock"? That is just as bad as the LBW's comment (not to say Ling is like her)

It is too simplsitic to balme all faults and failures of the opposition on the ruling party.

from the looks of it, i feel its useless for the parties to be bikering over who leads the pack. in fact, the common interest should be focused on getting more of their members into parliament - the more the merrier.

even if its gonna be split 3 or 4 ways in parliament, it's better than nothing. the ruling party can still remain as ruling party with perhaps 30% of seats, while the remaining 60% be split among the oppositions (regardless; 15-20% seats respectively).

it wont be too late for them to sing the same song (when they're all seated in parliament), to be critics & ensure that the new reforms from the ruling party doesnt slay the ppl.

Unless you change the Westminister system that SG adopted, fractioning parliament like that is still disastrous.
