Those people who engage in online harassment/bullying obviously have mental issues. It is in their own, as well as in public interest for such mentally-disturbed people to seek professional help from the IMH.

Under Singapore law, it is an offense of INTENTIONAL DISTRESS/INTENTIONAL HARASSMENT under Section 13A of Chapter 184, which is an non-arrestable offence. And furthermore this provision only applied to real life, the cyberspace is under its purview. The legal service is aware of the need to close this loophole. And they are working hard to roll out the new laws governing cyberspace. And when the new laws are passed, many individuals would be in deep legal trouble.

Who decides those limits? Someone has to push the boundaries in order to progress.

In the middle ages people were executed for speaking out against the church and this is still happening in many Islamic countries.

Once we allow the state to define who can say what, it's a slippery slope towards absolute tyranny.

This law is just another attempt by the PAP to silence the "noise" in cyberspace that makes many government ministers look like the fools that they are.

As usual, it is vague in nature and open to wide interpretation. What exactly is harassment? Is calling Khaw a "cow" considered to causing "intentional distress"? What about "Pinky", "Whore Jinx", "Old Fart" and so on.

My advice is to abandon facebook, twitter, personal blogs etc and come back to Uncle sammy who will take good care of all of you.
