saori sakoda oso got play in ze match against brazil ...

Ebata was still the starter against Brazil, but she had a poor game, and had most of her spikes blocked by the Brazil chiobus.
So Sakoda came in and played quite a lot in the SF and got the starting position against S Korea.
Btw, the gold medal match is not that late (12+ or 1+, not 2+ or 3+), should be worth staying up for.

Gold medal match is at 18.30 London time, so that is about 1.30 tomorrow morning SG time.
The mio stadium tv directory has it as beach volleyball, but I think they meant indoor volleyball.
Brazil vs USA.
There will be some athletics finals happening as well at around the same time, so should be worth staying up for.
