Hong Kong actress Irene Wan recently suffered a scare when her hair caught fire during a photoshoot at a bar.

No, it’s not ‘cos she used too much hair spray.
Recounting the terrifying incident to Hong Kong media HK01, the 57-year-old said she was standing too close to a candle and when she leaned back, her hair caught fire.

Oblivious to the blaze, she continued posing.
Fortunately, her quick-thinking assistant rushed over to put out the flames and the actress unharmed.

“I was almost disfigured. I was so scared!" said Irene.

When asked about the condition of her hair following the incident, Irene said: “My hair might have thinned a bit. It needs some care to restore its beauty.”

There’s no denying that Hong Kong ‘90s screen siren Irene Wan is still very much a bombshell.
The 56-year-old is known for her ageless beauty and credits her slim physique to regular exercise.

Last week, the actress shared snippets of her workout on her socials.

In the clip, Irene, dressed in a black sports bra and shorts with her hair up in two braids, can be seen doing a variety of exercises like jogging on the spot, squats, and lifting weights, all while smiling brightly at the camera.

"Exercise is my secret to keeping in shape,” she wrote in the caption.


Not taking workout seriously
While some netizens praised Irene for being an inspiration, others took issue with her workout, saying she was “exercising incorrectly”.
There were comments like “Posing more than working out”, “Not exerting any strength, and no muscles”, and a very mean: “One look and you can tell [she] doesn’t work out regularly. Not defined at all.”


One particular move that got people talking was what looked like a Russian twist, which saw her sitting on the mat with her knees bent and slightly open. But instead of twisting her torso, she flapped her legs from side to side.
Not only was her posture described as that of someone, um, giving birth, Irene also nearly “exposed herself” while showing the move.
Others also criticised her for looking trying to act young and wearing heavy make-up while working out.

“You are in your 50s… yet you still prance around in braids. Oh, please,” commented one netizen.
