A room in a Toa Payoh HDB flat is rented out, but it does not include water and electricity bills, cannot cook, and can only wash clothes once a month. Although the monthly rent is as high as 1,200 yuan, it has attracted at least 18 groups of people to view the house in just one day. Successfully rented out on the same day.

The TikTok account sgniceproperty uploaded a short video last month. The real estate agent Alan Kumar adopted a reverse operation method. Instead of praising how good the room is for rent, he first listed the above bunch of restrictions, and returned Jokingly wrote "Like living in prison and paying rent..."

The video attracted hundreds of comments, most of whom thought the price was too exaggerated, and even the agent wrote that the price was indeed too high, but even so, the room was successfully rented out in less than 24 hours.

Allen told Shin Min Daily News that after the video was uploaded, it aroused the interest of many people. A total of 18 groups of potential tenants went to see the house, and even a family of three offered 1,500 yuan to rent it. However, the landlord finally decided to rent it to two female tenants from Malaysia with S permits at a price of 1,200 yuan.

Allen said that the two tenants had already expressed their desire to rent directly before going to see the house, but they were arranged to come to make sure that everything was safe and let the tenants understand the rules set by the landlord.

As for whether the landlord minds that he uses negative words to describe the room to be rented, Allen said that he told the landlord beforehand that he would do so, because it is more appropriate to use this kind of humor on TikTok. In addition, clarifying all the conditions once can also avoid unnecessary disputes in the future.

it’s about right. i pay $699 a month just to share one mattress in a room as small as this.

Better than traveling to and fro, getting stuck in causeway and cry father cry mother la.

Malaysians working in Sg think it’s smart to just get a cheap and big place in Jb than rent in Sg. Really?

Why can only wash clothes once a month? I dun understand this. What is rationale behind this rule?

If I'm ever homeless I will travel around sinkieland and sleep on the top floor of multistorey carpark with partial shelter. Many are empty and sibeh windy at night.
