Official Linux Mint 17.2 "Rafaela" ISO Images Are Out

The announcement for the new version will land soon

The Linux Mint 17.2 "Rafaela" ISO images for both the Cinnamon and MATE flavors have been released, although the official announcement hasn't been made available just yet.

The official release of Linux Mint 17.2 "Rafaela" is just around the corner and it looks like anyone interested in downloading the new version will be able to do it now, although the upgrade channels are not opened just yet. These are just the ISO images, and they should be used for clean installs.

We've already covered the launch of the RC version of Linux Mint 17.2 "Rafaela", and the final product should not be too different from those. In any case, both flavors do come with major improvements for the desktop environments, Cinnamon 2.6 and MATE 1.10. As usual, you can expect a lot more for many other components, not to mention all the under the hood improvements.

Since the launch of Linux Mint 17.x, the project is only using the Ubuntu LTS version as a base. This allows the Linux Mint team to release upgrades much faster. It also means better support for distributions and that 18.x will be launched only after Ubuntu 16.04 will be made available in April 2016.
