The nine, all male sportsmen mostly in their first year, are being put through a disciplinary inquiry, the outcome of which is due at month's end.
Meanwhile, they are still attending classes, though they have been barred from seeking places at the other hostels.
A university spokesman confirmed the incident, which took place in the pre-dawn hours of Feb 19.
The group, comprising eight residents of Eusoff Hall and one non-resident, were celebrating Eusoff's clinching the overall championship title in the Inter-Hall Games and had been drinking, said a friend of theirs who declined to be named.
High on alcohol, they stripped and ran naked from Eusoff Hall to neighbouring Temasek Hall.
The female students among the witnesses reported the incident, which triggered a disciplinary inquiry in Eusoff Hall. The students were subsequently expelled from it.
Professor Tan Tin Wee, Eusoff's hall master, said NUS was taking a serious view of the incident, but declined further comment, citing the ongoing inquiry as a reason.
An NUS spokesman said the nine have been counselled, and that to protect their privacy, the university would not disclose further details.
'Based on our records, this is the first time that an incident of this nature has taken place,' she said, adding that NUS is running an inquiry to decide if further action needed to be taken.
A female student from Temasek Hall said: 'I didn't get to see them and stayed up the next night, wondering if they would appear again.'
She added that she was not against such acts, and that it was part of the fun in university.
A male student was surprised to learn that the group had been expelled: 'I thought they were just students having some fun. Is it really necessary to punish them so harshly?' Another student said similar incidents have happened in the past, with students streaking down hostel corridors on a dare.
