The Shitty Times headlines on front page screaming murder:

Firms laying off staff must keep S'porean core: NTUC
Labour movement calls on firms to ensure that any retrenchments will
be done fairly.

WTF. What has Brother Ng Chee Meng been doing the past few months?
Retrenchments were mentioned from four months ago ie it was not unexpected.
That's why they have been using our money to pay for the wage bills of GLCs
of up to 75%. Why wasn't all these things being taken care of earlier?

What "labour movement" we talking about in Singapore when the NTUC does not advocate....

1) Industrial actions
2) Minimum wage
3) Protecting local jobs

Maybe what they meant was "bowel movement" when they joined the central committee of
NTUC. :geek:

what sort of core are we talking up here when c-level execs and board of directors are mostly foreigners?

There are effectively no retrenchment laws in Singapore...all MOM does is urge "responsible retrenchments" to employers.

Hmmm... strong Sinkie core... now where have I heard that before?

Having govt people in charge of a so-called labour union is as asinine as having them in charge of a NGO.

In this aspect, Sinkieland is not too different from China.
