NS45 - From Fathers To Sons

Typical scene of NS enlistment by the Singapore Police Force in the 60s and 70s.

Check out the vintage Austin bus and bell bottoms of a bygone era!

From Austins, to 3 tonners, to current day Penguin ferries at Pulau Tekong. Quite a stark contrast indeed.

NS45 - From Fathers To Sons

NS is homogeneous. Whether we serve in in the SCDF, SPF, Navy, Airforce or Army - we have one common aim preserve and protect our way of life & our loved ones.

Wow, those 34" beLL bottomed pants Looks cooL man..;)

There is nothing to be proud of unless NS men have fought a war and save lives and the country to prove themselves worthy of honour and respect. Going to Taiwan, Australia, Brunei, India and Thailand are not real time military war missions fighting for our country and people.

Government understandably dished out propaganda and said NS was a big nationalistic thing, and forummers here unashamedly swallow line, hook and sinker and feel so proud and extraordinary that they now demand better payment and returns - and more respects from FTs.

They thought they had done something heroic - when thousands after thousands of men have gone through what they did before! Biasa lah!

Most peasants only TCSS about National Serfship ... till their sons, brother or pals drop dead, then 'cry father, cry mother'.

Wahaha, i was going to post this..:)

There's never anything to be proud of about conscription. Please do not get sucked into the flurry of patriotic propaganda, especially during this time of the year.

That said, I am grateful to NS for opening my eyes to a lot of shit that goes on behind the scenes. Things that those who hadn't done NS (e.g. womenfolk and foreigners) would be none the wiser about. The classified stuff, the outrageous happenings, the cover-ups, the incompetence, and the overall emphasis of style over substance etc.

And as I won't be having any children due to an affirmed decision, the family bloodline, and the supply of future taxpayers/conscripts stops with me. I won't be the father to a NS boy: no 'from father to son' nonsense from my side.

Perhaps the SAF can cajole the govt's beloved FTs to do NS. See if I care. Good luck.
