"As July 1 draws near, there are rumours that the government will arrange for officials and legislators to stay in closed-door quarantine for at least seven days in order to arrange activities for the 25th anniversary of Hong Kong's handover.
A member of the public who is planning to return to Hong Kong next week told Hong Kong 01 that he had originally booked the Novotel Century Hotel in Wan Chai for the isolation period, but suddenly received an email from the hotel yesterday (14) informing him that the government had requisitioned the hotel's June slot and asked him to contact another quarantine hotel in Causeway Bay to check whether he could make a reservation.
He criticised the government for being "irresponsible" and said the government was "using a horizontal hand" to compete with the public for the hotel, and queried "why must Wan Chai be requisitioned and why can't we stay in Causeway Bay? Hong Kong 01 has made enquiries with the relevant departments about the incident.
