Not many people know that Singapore willingly sold Christmas Island to Australia for 2.8million

It does not matter as the island belongs to the Malays in spirit. The blood that gushes from it is type M.
 
Xmas Island was administratively placed under colonial Singapore and the 'sale' to AU was the right move at the time, considering the development of SG then. Based on its location, it is a liability to maintain. Everything must be shipped in.
 
It would be a nice island to host all the lunatics from Yishun and one from Jurong East.

wah.............the island can be old folks home ( i wanna go)................plus quite a nice place to visit..............the crabs will all be eaten to oblivion in chilli sauce so no issue lah......... :biggrin:

Lee Kuan Yew once said that Singapore would become a metropolis. If what he said is true, then Singapore should not have given away the island. Instead, Singapore could have just leased the island to Australia for 50 years

anyways geographically its located beyond indon, administrating it will be a nightmare. Indon is in between us and Xmas island.

Christmas Island is a real island, 1/5 the size of SG, not like those fake islands in the South China Sea.

Same as those who died defending Sinkapour , whether locals or foreigner. They are not recognised as part of our Singapore history. Every year Memorial Day, they send NCC cadets as representation while other Commonwealth Countries sent soliders and veterans So Christmas Island is another boo boo which the PAP wants to keep under.
