On Monday, a similar incident occurred where a rail clip dropped from the viaduct of the track near the office buildings of TradeHub21 in Boon Lay Way.
Similar to the first clip, the latest clip found will be sent for a laboratory test to examine the reason for failure, SMRT said.
SMRT Train's executive vice-president Khoo Hean Siang expressed concern over the incidents and said that they will be installing safety nets along these areas immediately after passenger service tonight as a safety precaution.
He added that they will also be conducting a thorough check of the entire system, and will be replacing any clips that show signs of wear and tear.
Mr Khoo assured the public that SMRT takes a serious view of these recent incidents, and are deploying all available maintenance resources to look into the matter.
This is to ensure that public safety is not compromised and normal train operations can continue smoothly, he said.
