I dont know about how Kuan Yew became a PM of singapore.

But Ah Tong and Ah Loong were not elected -Prime Ministers.

These so -called Top Dogs make critical decisions for people and the country, how can they be appointed by a ruling party?

Since Ah Loong believes a Minority being Prime Minister of singapore is possible, we should put it to the test and let people elect their Prime minister.

If there is a PM contest, candidates can set out policies to woo voters !

Are we not tired of Foreign-talent issues day in, day out , by the present prime minister.

How can we convince the present govt to hold PM election ? Go to Hong Lim? write St forum? Write to kuan yew and son, and holy Goh? Or we talk to the union chief who has just gotten a disappointment he could avoid earlier
?

I support your call, so long the candidate is not from LEE KUAN YEW family/relative or even close friends, I will do my vote.

So you want a quasi-Presidential election for the PM post within a Westminster parliamentary system?

the singapore system should have an elected PM and parliament...

That would mean that there would be a constitution amendment, and that needs a 2/3 majority to get it passed. As with any bill that is needed to amend the powers of the President, you need a 2/3 majority.

With the pittance of the opposition size in Parliament currently, we need to do a lot more work in order to make it reality. It won't come with a finger snap though; it takes at least a couple of decades or even longer. I just hope I made the facts realistic and clear for you guys.

Singkies are voting for the people who elect a pm among themselves.
If you don't want someone to be the pm, then don't vote for that particular person or don't vote for those who will elect him.
It's that simple.

Its not just the quantity that matters; essentially its the quality of opposition. No one is asking for instant results, but as the saying goes even a thousand mile journey begins with a Singapore step. In the right direction. Unfortunately the WP has not made a single step forward in the interest of Singaporeans.

Is that their job? The WP I mean. I'll take them into consideration if they were to try out Tampines!:D

Then what exactly is their job if not in the interest of Singaporeans? Isn't that how they ended up in parliament in the first place; on the back of promises to the voter? Or are these just demagogue tongued opposition politicians we have in parliament?

I really don't know my friend, because in the parliamentary session when Mee Siam Mai Hum pointedly asked LTK in the face whether Monkey Wong should resign or not, the explosive silence of an absence of an answer at a time when half the electorate was baying for MW's blood really befuddled me!:)
I remembered I was asking in my mind, why won't he replied, "Yes why not!"
