Sleaguepunter is spot on. I have been on both sides of the fence for PAP meet-the-people sessions. The MP for my old ward was never present, and his subordinates would be the ones acting on the MP's behalf. Many of them are very arrogant and dismissive; they don't make an effort to understand your issues- they may brush you off or tell you off.
It is a tedious process where you have to tell your story twice - once to some grassroots guy who takes down your story in writing, and then to the 'MP' himself. What a waste of time and manpower.
