National Solidarity Party plans to field some 30 candidates in next GE

They need to come challenge Tanjong Pagar GRC. I seriously need someone to come challenge the Old Man's ward to give me a chance to vote. Hell I won't even mind if they send down 4 Ah Lian Bimbos. I bet they could at least get 30% vote

I just hope that you will not be disappointed this time round. ;)

I wonder if people are expecting PKMS to pull out of SDA to join another alliance? Is NSP trying to catch a few disgrunted members by setting up a bureau? SPP may catch one or two. How about RP and WP?

There isn't any other alliance that PKMS could join.

As far as I am concerned, I am only interested to diffuse tension in PKMS.

On the other hand, setting up a Malay Bureau is the first step to make it clear to others that we will make all effort to groom our own Malay candidates.

The Malays face a diff set of problems from the other races. The idea of a Malay Bureau is a good one. I disagree that it is the start of race-based politics. A Malay Bureau sends a signal to the Malays that here is a political party willing to lend them an ear, and to focus on their special problems. Solving Malay problems does not always mean a zero sum game; I don't think GMS/NSP are pressing for special rights or privileges at the expense of the other races. GMS and NSP have to state that upfront.

Can't a normal bureau do that? Why is it that only a Malay Bureau can send a signal to the Malays that there is a political party willing to lend them ears? What's next? Indian Bureau?

It's a good move to win more Malay votes, but the purpose seems a bit focus just on this specific race. Regardless of a Malay Bureau or none of it, quality people can still stand out

You are right, if I have the critical mass, I will start an Indian Bureau as well. ;)

Any political parties which are serious in long term political development of itself, will have to build up its various arms, including Youth Wing, Woman Wing, Malay Bureau, Indian Bureau etc. This is not something special for NSP. PAP did that long time ago.

A weaker challenger attacks a stronger opponent at the weakest links.

NSP attacks PAP at the strongholds.

Hope you have the critical mass.

Otherwise, have medical insurance for critical injury.

Throughout Malayan history, it's the Malays who have always figured significantly in political life. Indians have never had any problems working with the Chinese, whether economically or politically. In fact, I daresay Indians more often than not, need to be restrained or controlled, less to be helped.

Well, different situations call for different strategies. For this instance, there is no other choice and we have to face our weakness and turn it into strength.

Regardless of Race, Language or Religion. This is the part where I think its the most important.

That's what the PAP always claims, but in reality, Indians and Chinese are often found on the same side of the line with the Malays on the other side.

Let's be a bit more sensitive. Old man behaved like a bull in a china shop in Malaysia. It doesnt mean he was always right.

In fact, when LKY says those racial equality stuff and we should not have race-based politics, nowadays he means we have to consider the Malay interests most, not less; and less so the Indians, the Jews, the Arabs, the Armenians, the Eurasians, etc.

According to the old man, that's not important, just an aspiration. Maybe someday, our descendants will get there. In the meantime, it's HDB racial quota and GRC minority certificate.

What toking you? Malay votes are the strongest hold in PAP. Majority of malays were well taken care of by given jobs in the civil service. Chinese speaking community now start to weary about NSP for playing the race card and unpleasant past of GMS's adultery

The Old Man has learnt his lesson.

In fact, the people who will start race-based politics will be the PAP if they lost the malay vote.

Good news that 30 seats are contested by NSP alone

If all seats are contested, it may cause unprecedented voter sentiments.

Try not to overplay the race card, GMS!

opposition needs to keep the old man at bay. Left with no contest simply mean he will have all the free time to lend fire support to other GRC or SMC. Many people have some kind of soft spot for LKY, once he comes and shake hands with people, how many votes are going to deflect? Remember how he intervened on behalf of Ho Peng Kee in Yishun SMC?

I dont see how anybody is playing the race card here. We have a Chnese party inviting Malays to stand as candidates to win the Malay votes in a GRC. Not a Malay party soliciting malay votes, or a Chinese party asking for Chinese votes against Malay votes etc.
