Usually, big cats don't fight to harm or eat each other. They know they're cousins. When they do fight (as cousins do), it's usually because of common target preys. The bigger more powerful one usually do enough to scare the smaller weaker one to back off, that's all.

In the case of Wild Cup Final between the two top cats, there's no guarantee whether the tiger or the lion would prevail. A tiger is generally bigger than lion but by not that much. A male lion is bigger than his female counterpart but the female is well known to be the better aggressor and the male, the better defender. The mane is anti-aerodynamic, slows down mobility and encumbers agility.

ramseth who in the hell doesn't know that a tiger is bigger than a lion?

The siberian tiger is the largest in the world.

Anyway you should watch some animal fight videos and there are differing views. Some ppl report lions are never afraid of tigers but not vice versa. Some report tigers win fights vs lions and so on. The thick mane of the lion protects it from neck bites though.

male lions don't hunt, it's the lioness that brings back the bacon...:D

utter rubbish.

lions do hunt but they do not make good hunters, a lion take down a couple of hyenas every now and then if he find them annoying. the lion can also take down weak and slow animals. the lionesses on the other hand prefer to hunt in a pack to take down larger prey in order to share with the pack and the young ones.

i think i have watched a male lion i think on a vid kill a giraffe.

Also watched another vid where this buffalo gored 1 lioness to death.

1 particular vid that pissed me off was this pride of lions killing a baby elephant at night and the mum, dad didn't really do anything.

heheh... i think i saw the elephant video previously too.

a lion can take down large animals, but its mane gives its position away pretty easily. thus only the weak and slow gets taken down most of the time. hyenas on the other hand do harass the pride all the time, so the lion take out one or two of them to keep other hyenas at bay. good to note the hyena's jaw power is pretty strong too.

as of the buffalo, the hunters are wary of the horns, especially when the bulls herd together, seldom see the hunters risking their lives to attack. if they do attack, it is from the rear or sides as a pack to take down just one prey. the combined weight of the cats will bring the prey down, then they go in for the kill by clamping down on the throat.

Big wild cats are natural killers. They aim straight for the jugular at first strike. Even wolves and foxes don't have that instinctive aim.

However, big wild cats do miss the deadly jugular strike sometimes. No big deal against smaller animals, can try again, but could be morbidly or even mortally disastrous against bigger animals, like buffaloes or oxen that choose to counter attack. Horses (including zebras) are a favourite, can only run but can't really retaliate. Buffalo's about the biggest that they usually go for, and risk for. Regardless of the power of their jaws and paws, they're aware that adult elephants, hippos and rhinos are no-nos.

heheh... no one messes with adult hippos... not even crocodiles dare attack :eek::eek:

Not really sure of it. Only knew that a lot of fat cats can be found in Singapore.

LIGER IS THE LARGEST LAHH!!!! Google Liger :D:D:D
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CD6vpheUoPE

alamak cross species breeds are not counted. Ligers and tions are all sterile so they are very rare.

FYI i hear the tions are smaller than both lions and tigers and are rarer than ligers.

Lastly huge size doesn't mean everything. I'm not sure if a liger is more ferocious compared to a tiger or a lion.

Google wolverine that's a very small but very fierce animal.

you guys should check videos on honey badgers. They are very fierce fighters and even leopards fear them. I hear they can probably fight bears too. They tear open bee hives like nobody's business to eat the honey. They can also survive snake venom. There's one video i saw where the badger killed and ate a king cobra but was bitten by it. It's not immune to the venom so was intoxicated like a drunk man sleeping on the ground for like a couple of hours. A few hrs later it just got up and shook off the effects of the venom. If a grown man was bitten he would have been dead unless anti venom was administered quickly.
