Mystery man jumps to his death
Shin Min Daily News

A man jumped from a flat in Choa Chu Kang yesterday morning, despite residents trying to save him.
The incident happened yesterday at 11.40am, at Blk 271, Choa Chu Kang Ave 2. A 30-year-old man had jumped from the seventh floor and died on the spot. Resident Mr Han (63, retiree) stays at the seventh floor and had been in his home when he heard furniture being moved at the corridor outside.
He went to check on the noise and saw a man moving his white shoe cabinet to the parapet. Han shouted at the man, "Hey, what are you doing?" The man turned back to look at Han but did not answer. He then climbed onto the parapet and looked about to jump. On seeing this, Han and his wife dashed out of their home to grab the man.
The couple managed to grab the man's arms and tried to haul him back up. But the couple eventually failed as the man's arms were too slick with sweat. Han said, "The man looked like he was panicking. I didn't know where he came from, we tried to pull him back up but his arms were too sweaty. We saw him fall right in front of us."
Nearby residents indicate that they have never seen the man in the area. Witnesses describe the man as Chinese, less than 1.6m tall and he wore a t-shirt and a pair of shorts when he jumped.
