SINGAPORE – A maid who was tasked with caring for an intellectually disabled woman was on July 9 jailed for hitting the woman with her fists and a cane.

Myanmar national Pa Pa Tun, 34, who was a registered doctor in Myanmar, unrepresented in court, was sentenced to 10 weeks’ jail after pleading guilty to one charge of voluntarily causing hurt to a vulnerable person.

The victim’s younger sister hired Pa Pa Tun in 2022 to care for the victim, 48, who is non-communicative and needs help with her daily activities.
