In most countries, participants will be briefed about the objective/purpose/medication of the clinical trials.
Three things will happen:
- You will be exposed to the pathogen or whatever condition or environment factor, to stimulate the experiment.
- You will be given either the actual medication or placebo, eg if you are hoping that you get assess to a potential cure for cancer, but you could end up being randomly assigned into the "control group" and given sugar pills or saline jabs.
- You indemnify them against any further claims or compensation package, even if you die because because of the experiment.
