The fatal mistake of the opposition is to contest in Tanjong Pagar GRC. And the fault squarely lies with Tan Jee Say and Ang Yong Guan.

There are too many necrophiliacs who love to suck the oblong dick of LKY. By contesting in the turf of their beloved LKY less than half a year after his death, Tan & Ang (and consequently the opposition) have offended these necrophiliacs by not showing due respect to the founding father of modern Singapore.

Thank you Tan & Ang for screwing the 30% of us so deep. If you have any modicum of remorse, please leave Tanjong Pagar GRC untouched for at least the next 2 general elections.

As for Hougang, Aljunied and Punggol East, their drop in percentage is mainly due to the AHPETC financial/accounting issue. I have a neighbour who switched to PAP just because of this. Please spend the next 5 years fixing this problem. And some people perceive you didn't live up to all the hype of First World Parliament with your performance.

LTK & Sylvia, this will be the third and last time I will be able to vote for you. Goodbye, good luck and keep up the tough work.

Some students will research on this for their thesis. Let's wait for Thum PJ to comment.

GD, i hope you understand that while it is good to be loyal to the party you support, you have to be able to support OBJECTIVELY.

If you try to defend the WP all the time even when the WP is not up to par, you are hurting the WP more.

That is the main reason for the WP poor performance this time.

It is ok for the WP to make mistakes, (no party is perfect), but they need to get the truthful feedback from their supporters, so that they can improve.

Cosmos10 - My honest comments? WP very disappointing. Not because of this GE's results but overall performance since 2011.

CSM is the greatest disappointment. LTK? When challenged by LHL on MSK's escape, I could not believe he kept silent.

Why I appear to side WP? I do not want to sabo them before GE! Hope that helps clear matters.

Yes, thanks. :)

I was wondering why the big names political parties don't contest SMC first, just enter the Parliament and start building up!

Go for areas with higher certainty of success, and build up that SMC first, don't let it become a GRC later...

Once being greedy, the cause is lost... if the original thought is to serve the people, why not serve a few people first, and get customer trust and loyalty, Singapore is a small country, once the customers become sold, and resold, again and again, they will come back for more, and they will give you referrals, increasing your reputations.

First we must define what is a MP job.

A Member of Parliament represent the voice of the people living in that respective ward... and the MP get in to Parliament because of the peoples' support, so, they must be grateful and serve the people earnestly and help the people as if they are your customers... in this case, the electorate are really the customers of the Government of Singapore, if you see it in a business point of view.

My view is, Opposition Party, PLEASE DO NOT BE GREEDY, go for SMCs first, send your best Politician, and start rallying from today, you got 5 years to do the job, DO NOT BE LAZY... As for GRCs... if you guys want to get it, form up an alliance with other stronger Opposition like WP, and work strategically together... perhaps there may be some differences in Manifestos, however, most of the points you are pointing out on happens to be the peoples' voice. So, if the Peoples' voice is what you want to represent, please work together for the time being first!

Politics is a lifetime work... it requires patriotism, sacrifice, humility, honour, discipline, and ACTION... and it's surely not for everyone... anyone here willing to sacrifice their entire life to fight for a cause?

Let me give you mine.

Will Singaporean women marry the dashing, charming, glib O-Level dropout loser, or will they date the boorish, boring, lying, wife-beating business heir? The choice is very clear, isn't it?

There are plenty of dropout losers who made it big, but sinkies are just short-sighted and materialistic. Pity them not.

Singaporean women are very discerning and they know what they want. ;)

Sperminator - Unlike MIW who need not worry about career, opposition chaps need to make a living. MIW have all the resources available - manpower and money for instance. That is a critical advantage to have. The playing field is not level and never will. Opposition chaps need to work many times harder than their MIW rivals. That is reality.

Brother GoldenDragon,

I know... but that's going to be the only way the opposition succeed... they have to sacrifice themselves in the process... LKY had it easy as he had a backing of a bank... now most banks are at whose control?

It's going to be super hard for the opposition as time get by... especially with the influx of more and more NEW CITIZENS. Might as well Singapore declare itself as Dictatorship-Socialist State.

Until we have an independent election commission, it is always going to be difficult for the oppo parties.

Take YJJ for example, he concentrated his efforts on Joo Chiat SMC for five years.

Then one fine day, merely 6 weeks before the polling date, he found out there was no more JC SMC.

So, to be fair to all oppo parties, the SG oppo politics is uniquely difficult lah!

Politics is not sports. So, forget about level playing field and fairness. It is the same even in democratic countries like UK and US. You think you can unseat the deeply entrenched political parties there? You think if you are independent, you got chance to unseat Labour Party, Conservative Party, the Democrats or the Republicans? You wait long long. Singapore also the same. Most people subconsciously associate PAP with Singapore. No PAP, no more Singapore success story.

Ahha, but in these countries that you mentioned, the ruling party does not control the press, the tv station, the election commission, the courts, the funds, the AG, and what have you!

The PAP won an election. The PAP did not win a DEMOCRATIC election.

Agreed. One fine day, Singapore will have all her wards named as GRC... I won't be surprised... The Election Department reports directly under the PMO... so, what democracy is there?

It will require huge resources, especially personal resources to be in the game... the buy in price in Singapore is simply too big...

That's why many are now left on the shelf. I had a colleague who was in Han Hui Hui category but once rejected a not-bad sinkie suitor because her ideal guy must look like mark philippoussis.

To most sinkies, democracy is a tool. It is a tool that is used to attain the following:
- safe streets, jobs/livelihood, schools, homes, property ownership, developed infrastructure, healthcare, fiscally sound government and reserves.

The end product of democracy is more important to sinkies and most people than democracy per se. Until you fcukers get it into your heads, your team will continue to lose the next 10 elections. PAP will only be booted out if it cannot fulfil the end product that people here demand from democracy. PAP will never be booted out for playing unfair.
