sorry 2 disappoint u guys ...

but online dictionary say got 'untransparent' la ...

:p

Can you provide any links to your post on untransparent being found in online dictionary. Of course you had not offer the suggestion that it is in usage, formal or otherwise.

I spent half an hour trying to find a "definite" definition for "untransparent" without success.

Sure there are articles published with that word. But there too are countless articles published on the Internet that included bastardised English words.

Should our students be told that it is permitted to use the word "untransparent" in their academic papers or even be taught at primary level?

Try googling (yes, there is no such word as googling either, so sue me) "Untransparent".

It really amuses me how some of you jump on every single opportunity. "Untransparent" is definitely a widely used word in the context of corporate governance. On the other hand, Sammyboy forum is going to be the first lobby for "Opaque" to be used instead.

Sometimes what you learn in Pri. 6 science gets superseded when you go up higher the educational ladder.

It's really pointless to barb what is essentially a discussion on the proper usage of the English language. I'm not trying to deride anyone, hell, who wants to make a claim that he has the last word on what constitutes proper and accurate English usage.

You know what is the real problem here? It's the defensive and egoistic position adopted whenever one is prodded, questioned or even simply an honest request for verification is made. I'm here to learn, maybe others are here only to teach?

The point is that the prodding came with so much sarcasm that it became funny that he instead ended up with egg on his face. I still choke at his simplistic suggestion that the appropriate word in this case is opaque. Oh my gawd.
