I think MP Koo is trying to say that Singapore is a multi-religious society so we have to be sensitive towards one another, eg. by not imposing our beliefs on others. Just round the corner where I live, there are 2 Buddhist temples, 1 mosque and 1 church. When my Indonesian maid came to work for us, I showed her the neighbours laying out huge displays of food offering during the Hungry Ghosts Month because I want her to understand our national culture. She said seeing the burning of paper money made her hair stand on end. She was also uncomfortable when she heard the sound of chanting floating in the air during some religious festivals and was amazed to see there weren't any demonstrations in the streets. We should try to live in peace with one another.
