When mall owners are companies controlled by foreigners or foreigners' owned enterprises, they will want to squeeze as much rent as possible from their lessees like squeezing sugar cane to a pulp. Pappies are helpless unless they build more malls owned by JTC or HDB to lease to struggling lessees.

The rental paid for any shop space is the real killer to any business in an economic downturn. No hope for this guy. Close shop and cut loss to stay debt free.

The problem in Spore is that the malls are locally owned e.g. CapitaLand, Far East, Fraser group,.... All of them are Spore companies

Yes & that's where I get most of my purchases from the internet & it's common to see physical shops closing

The brick mortar shops in Spore are dying because the PAP has a monopoly. They control the rent of these shops, from the neighbourhood HDB shops to the large malls.

So if these shops are having a problem surviving, it may not be the shop owners fault but could be due to the high rents being charged.

Any bookshop that worth its salt should stock LKY books and all publications related to him. These are the stuff that I read and have time only to read. Why I am sure because 70% of the population agreed with me. It's dense why the owner don't see the light.

While he is at it, he should stock back copies of PAP manifestos too.

I am sure he will be seeking Mainboard listing within a year of doing that.
