LOOKING for a job? The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has more than 400 vacancies for professionals, managers, executives and technical officers ahead of its July 1 restructuring.

<TABLE class=picBoxL cellSpacing=2 width=100 align=left><TBODY><TR><TD> </TD></TR><TR class=caption><TD>At the helm: The new regulatory body will be headed by chairman Lee Hsien Yang (above), with Yap Ong Heng as director-general </TD></TR></TBODY></TABLE>CAAS will be split into two entities - a corporatised airport operator (NewCo) and a regulatory body (NewCAA).
It is seeking tertiary-educated professionals such as engineers, accountants and managers for strategic, regulatory and operational functions, and executives and technical officers for administrative and support roles.
Six hundred of the current 1,800 CAAS staff have been assigned to NewCAA, while the other 1,200 will go to NewCo. Their new roles will be based on their current job functions.
From July 1, NewCAA will be responsible for aviation safety, airworthiness and the provision of air-traffic services.
It will also conduct international relations, partner other government bodies to develop and promote Singapore as an air hub and develop the Singapore Aviation Academy into a world-class training and knowledge facility.
NewCo will be responsible for airport operations and management, emergency services and investment in foreign airport projects.
NewCo will be led by chairman Liew Mun Leong, the current chairman of CAAS and chief executive of CapitaLand.
NewCo's chief executive will be CAAS' current deputy director-general for operations Lee Seow Hiang.
NewCAA will be headed by chairman Lee Hsien Yang, with Yap Ong Heng as director-general.
Job seekers should visit the CAAS website - www.caas.gov.sg - for more details and to apply for positions.
