Recruitment starts for S’pore GP volunteer race officials
SINGAPORE: Recruitment for race officials for the 2009 Singapore Grand Prix is on from December 8 to on January 23, 2009.
This year, the Singapore Sports Council hopes to recruit 800 general race officials for various positions.
They are also hoping that about 200 of the 1,000 volunteers they had last year will return to take on senior official duties.
Race officials have to go through extensive theory and practical sessions, specifically tailored to each role.
Training lasts about seven months, and there will also be specific overseas training sessions for selected officials.
Next year, a one—stop portal will be set up where race officials can access the entire year’s training calendar months in advance, so as to cause minimal disruption to their personal schedules.
