Contrary to claims by leaders from the ruling party that foreign workers take up jobs shunned by Singaporeans, they are competing directly with them for limited jobs in the labor market.

Singaporeans are being discriminated in their own country by job advertisements seeking foreigners specifically which are ubiquitous on major online job portals.

A quick glance of local job portal Gumtree revealed that more than half the job advertisements are looking for either China or Malaysian workers for positions which can otherwise be filled by Singaporeans:

The above job ad is seeking for PRC or Malaysian Chinese to fill the position of bakery and kitchen supervisor.

This is not a position requiring special skills nor will Singaporeans shun it and so why are foreigners preferred over Singaporeans?

In the second ad above, the employer is looking for a PRC candidate to become a sales promoter and one condition is that he/she must speak English! Won’t the employer stand a higher chance of finding a Singaporean who can speak English?

The company above is looking specifically for a China driver with valid Singapore driving licence. It will be easier if it recruits Singaporeans instead. Are workers from China better drivers than Singaporeans.

It is obvious from the above examples that foreigners are taking up jobs which can otherwise be filled by Singaporeans due to the lax immigration policies of the government.

The only advantage that these foreign workers have over locals is cost. Even after paying the foreign worker levy, a PRC worker still cost much less than a Singaporean.

How can the government expect Singaporeans to compete directly with PRC workers who are willing to accept even a few hundreds of dollars of wages monthly?

The easy availability of cheap foreign labor has also depressed the wages of ordinary Singaporeans as employers can easily switch to foreigners if locals reject their offers.

As a result, Singapore workers are at the losing end. They have to work for longer hours for less pay.

A recent report from the International Labor Organization revealed that Singaporeans work the longest hour a week compared to their counterparts in Hong Kong, South Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

It is improbable that these companies will go burst just because they employ a few more locals at the expense of foreigners.

The key reason why foreign workers are preferred is because they cost much less and the ultimate aim of businessmen is to maximize their profits.

Even when they are slogging hard like dogs day in and out, they still find it difficult to survive in Singapore due to the high cost of living which is exacerbated by the relentless influx of foreigners over the last few years.

Since the ruling party is unwilling to help Singaporeans, we must unite and help our own people.

We urge all netizens to boycott not only companies which employ a disproportionate number of foreigners, but job portals which post discriminatory job ads like such as well.

Look on the bright side, at least the employers still prefer Chinese like they did 10 to 15 years ago. No one had a problem with that when it was pointed out. In fact minorities were lamblasted for been petty and not seeing the big picture. So what is the big deal now? Can the local Ah Beng see the big picture and not complain so much?

Simple explanation. The problem is not with the nature the jobs and Singaporeans dont want to take them. The employers feel, they have more control by hiring the foreigner who does not have the flexibility to job hop and leave the business hanging fire. It is a question of having a stable staff group willing to learn and stay put after the training. Try and run a business and then you will know.

All I can say is what goes round comes round. :p

Chinese sinkies used to exclude local Indians and Malays from the job interview process by specifically stating that knowledge of Mandarin was a requirement for the job.

They're now getting a taste of their own medicine. Serves them jolly well right!:D

Well said Sam. Singapore Chinese have only themselves to blame.

Chinese sinkies really did that in the past??? That is truly a sinkie behavior. oh my.. i feel for the malays and indians.

no wonder whenever i go near a sinkie, even without knowing if he is a sinkie, i feel a sense of repulsive turn off. I thank god for giving me such a power so i can stay away from sinkies.

What the ministers are referring to, when they say jobs that Singaporeans shun, are not specific jobs type but the salary range.

If you would $5000 per month for someone to doing nothing by hold your dick as you walk, do you think there will be no takers?

So, when you see ads like these, it is indeed true that Singaporeans shun them but not because they are store supervisor or baker's assistant, or sales promoter; but rather because these are jobs that pays way below Singaporean's expectation of a decent salary.

If Singaporeans are indeed shunning these jobs then why in the first place are they complaining about discrimination in these very job ads?

Well.... not sure if you have noticed but usually jobs the state that they want prcs or some other FWs usually don't state the pay range.

Most of the job ads, even for mid tier managers do not state pay range. Again if the jobs are shunned by Singaporeans, why then are they whining about discrimination?

1) Not all people will shun these jobs.
2) Singaporeans have family in Singapore to feed. These PRCs don't even mind $500-$600/ month job.
