After being harassed a couple of times by NEA officers at sungei road, he is so pissed that he brought the knife out on them. The NEA officers then cowardly called the cops. This shows that when you push the poor and desperate too far, they will retaliate, just like our hero Ong Kah Chua. BTW, NEA comes under Perm Sec Tay Yong Soon's ministry.

Knife, arrest drama at Thieves' Market
By Veena Bharwani

January 23, 2009

GAWKERS: The arrest drew a crowd of curious onlookers. PICTURE: LIANHE ZAOBAO

IT WAS a simple request that turned into a standoff - an incident during which a knife was allegedly flashed at a government officer.

The drama unfolded in front of passers-by and hawkers at the Sungei Road Thieves' Market on Tuesday morning.

It escalated to a chase in which the officer was threatened with a stick before the police arrived and subdued a suspect who was resisting arrest.

According to Lianhe Zaobao, a National Environment Agency (NEA) officer had asked a man in his 50s to leave the market at 9.30am as he did not have a licence to sell goods there.

The man, who was on a motorcycle with a side carrier, apparently refused to budge even after the NEA officer explained why he couldn't sell goods there.

He became agitated and allegedly fished out a 30cm knife and threatened the officer, said the report.

The officer left so as to not antagonise the man further.

Witnesses said that when the NEA officer returned several minutes later, the man allegedly threatened him again with the knife.

When the officer left and returned for the third time, the man allegedly grabbed a wooden stick and chased the officer for 20 metres.

That was when the police were called in.

A police spokesman said that when approached by six police officers, the man was uncooperative and behaved in a disorderly manner.

'At this juncture, two officers drew their batons and gave warnings to the suspect while another officer drew his Taser stun device as a precautionary measure in case the suspect turned violent,' the spokesman said in an e-mail reply.

Subdued

The officers managed to subdue and arrest the suspect without having to use the taser gun.

A knife was recovered at the scene.

Other hawkers told Lianhe Zaobao that the man appeared about two weeks ago and sold old clothes, shoes and instant noodles.

Since he was an unlicensed hawker, he did not have a permanent spot and kept moving around in the market.

A man was charged with criminal intimidation yesterday.

What you should visualize is REGRESSION in Singapore in reality.

When I was a kid things like that happened EVERYDAY.

This was known by Chinese peasants as Zhao Tee Guu 跑地牛。

This DEFIANCE was known by Chinese peasants as Pak Tee Guu 打地牛。

The Tee Guu 地牛 are now known as NEA.

Pak Tee Guu was so common in the ear of my childhood that parents of my schoolmates fights with Tee Guu physically on routine basis and get arrested / jailed as part of life.

This culture had disappeared from Singapore for about 20 years or so and now returned back. So time turned back to 1960s / 70s and this is called REGRESSION.

When regression happens in famiLEE LEEgime their ending is definately very very near.:cool::biggrin:

I must specify that it is a great difference from deliberated civil disobedience actions conducted with a design and message. In the old days the peasants (Chinese + Indians + Malays) were doing these all for a very simple living aka 3 meals and feed their children to grow up.

Today it is obvious the elderly man at Sungei Road aka Kek Sng Kio 结霜桥 got arrested by Mata for beating up Tee Guu was exactly the same, to survive by making a tiny business at Kek Sng Kio selling a bit of poor second-hand goods. But the famiLEE LEEgime & Bureaucracy OPPRESSED him, and he resisted, he fougt back, Mata & Tee Guu bullied him with famiLEE LEEgime's laws, just like during the old days when it happened to HIS DAD when he was a small boy.

Time reversed backward to 1960s, REGRESSION in red dot a clear sign of famiLEE LEEgime's ending.
