Money folks thumb nose at Obama

The Dow fell below 8,000 in the final hour of trading as bank stocks took a beating over profit worries.

Stocks have been lower all day but paused in their descent briefly as Barack Obama was sworn in as the 44th president.

Credit Suisse says S'pore will lose 300,000 jobs - not 30,000 - come 2010. This comes from 160,000 in services, 100,000 in manufacturing and 40,000 in construction
