An official from the Ministry of Manpower has stepped forward to debunk the propaganda from the mainstream media that all the 80,000 foreign workers whom the PAP regime is bringing into Singapore take up jobs “shunned by Singaporeans.”
During his recent National Dally Rally speech, Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong “promised” to reduce the intake of foreigners from 100,000 to 80,000 this year to soothe the frayed nerves of Singaporeans who are getting increasingly peeved by his pro-foreigner and ultra-liberal immigration policies.
As expected, the Singapore media which doubles up as the unofficial propaganda mouthpiece of the PAP regime, is quick to spin lies, half-truths and hogwash to confuse, mislead and hoodwink Singaporeans.
Alicia Wong from TODAY Online got the cheek to proclaim on behalf of the PAP that the 80,000 foreign workers are expected to take up jobs “shunned” by locals without substantiating her claims with any evidence:
“The 80,000 foreign workers expected to enter Singapore’s workforce this year will continue to take on jobs locals shun, such as in construction and shipping, according to employment agencies.”
A reader who worked at the MOM told us that the reality on the ground is quite different from what is portrayed in the media.
According to him, about half the work permits and employment passes are given to foreign workers in the construction and shipping industries while the rest are granted to those who are competing directly with Singaporeans for jobs which can otherwise be taken up by them.
“Give you an example – there’s this chain of shops selling DVDs. Almost all its service staff are from mainland China. They are paid a basic salary of $1,200 monthly and plus commission can earn more than $1,400. These jobs can be done by any Singaporean. Why are they employing so many mainland Chinese?” he said.
He added that contrary to what is promised by the PAP regime to “moderate” the inflow of foreign workers, they are still flocking to Singapore “like water”. He has approved more than 1,000 work permits and employment passes in the last few months alone.
“Let me tell some of the passes I have personally approved – Burmese “accounts executive” working in a local construction firm, mainland Chinese “administrative executive” in a government-linked company, Filipino “network engineer” in a local SME and Indian “banking executive” in a foreign bank. Do Singaporeans really shun these jobs? I doubt so.”
The Ministry of Manpower should release more detailed information about the job scopes and monthly salaries of foreigners being given work permit and employment passes in the last one year for Singaporeans to judge for themselves if they are truly taking up jobs which no local want to do.
