KUALA LUMPUR - A man has been arrested after a 22-year-old woman accused him of molesting her during an "audition".
The 49-year-old property agent was believed to have impersonated a well-known telemovie director to "trap" women.
City deputy CID chief Asst Comm Khairi Ahrasa said the man met the woman at a restaurant at Taman Connaught to offer her a role in a telemovie he was supposedly directing.
He handed over a script which involved a scene where she would lie on a bed and cry before a man would hug and kiss her.
"The woman objected to the script but the man threatened to drop her from the movie if she refused to act out the script," he said at the press conference.
Desperate to be part of the show, the victim agreed and followed the man to a hotel nearby.
ACP Khairi said at the hotel room, the woman did as she was told and when she was lying on the bed, the man climbed on top of her and started to molest her.
"The woman felt uneasy and ran out of the room. She lodged a report immediately," he said.
Police arrested the man near Jalan Hang Isap here at 4.30pm on Tuesday.
"We believe there are other women who have fallen victim to the man but have not come forward to lodge a report," he said.
Police urge these victims to come forward and lodge reports.
