Molester dad gets jail, caning <!--10 min-->

A DISTRICT judge who sentenced a marine supervisor to 14 years and 20 strokes of the cane for molesting his two daughters said a clear message must be sent that such acts would not be tolerated.

THE court heard that the man started molesting his eldest daughter since she was 10 in 1997 by touching her private parts. He later also performed oral sex on her.
He had threatened to beat his daughter if she told her mother, who had been less intimate with him since 1996.
</td></tr> </tbody></table> District Judge Sarjit Singh told the 49-year-old father of three that what he had done to his daughters was terrible and disgusting. 'Instead of nurturing and protecting them, you violated them to satisfy your sexual lust,' he said. 'This court has to send a clear message that such acts will not be tolerated. Therefore, a deterrent sentence will be imposed on you.'
The man pleaded guilty last week to seven charges of aggravated molestation and one each of simple outrage of modesty and intruding into the privacy of a woman. Eight others were taken into consideration.
The daughters are now 22 and 17.
He could have been jailed for up to 10 years and caned on each of the aggravated molestation, and up to two years and/or a fine or caning for simple molestation. For peeping, the maximum jail term is up to one year and/or a fine.
