Not to mention the fast greying population with increasing life expectancy- can we dump these old geezers in JB?? Furthermore SG has to deal with the brain drain. Talented Sinkees of all breed and creed are opting for the one way ticket out of SG. Old man has given up on getting the Chinks to procreate. The only other viable option is immigration. This is the only way to sustain the economy and keep the P-hole prices afloat.

Look this was way back in the early 70s. Families were increasingly having 4 to 6 kids as the mindset back than was that of a squatter.. the more kids, the more hands to help around the village. Old man was afraid a lemming colony would be formed and a deep seated fear that there wouldn't be enough to go around having just gained independence not too long ago.

He did try to reverse the policy back in the early 80s but by then it was too late. Strangely while the country was facing a severe baby shortage he was busy handing out cash grants to lowly educated mothers who would undergo voluntary sterilization. Targeted at the Malays?

If Singapore is not great geographical spot, even the best leaders in the world cannot make Singapore anything. LKY is boasting while sitting on a gold mine and yet continues to ruin it. The fact that Singapore has not totally collapsed economically shows the fantastic importance of Singapore in international trade. This is the only reason why LKY can be around and the international leaders that be that want him around.

Are u sure or not? How many immigrants actually are stupid enough to buy a pigeon hole here? U can see many examples of 4 or 5 of them renting one flat. Or one family stay in one room, and shared by other families. That is why the last few years, HDB had thousands of unsold flats. They predicted the new FTs will buy them when they come, but these people are not that stupid.
