Recovery teams have found two big parts of AirAsia Flight 8501, which crashed into the sea last weekend with 162 people on board, Indonesia's top search official said. Bambang Soelistyo, Search and rescue agency chief, told reporters that the huge relief operation discovered the objects in the Java Sea off the island of Borneo late on Friday night. The plane crashed in the shallow waters of the Java Sea off Borneo but rough weather and high seas have hampered the search for the fuselage and the bodies of the 162 passengers and crew. The search in the Java Sea entered its 10th day on January 6, struggling in bad weather to find the remaining missing bodies and the 'black box' flight data recorders which are crucial to determining the cause of the disaster.
