It's just the PAP's way to remind the people that elections are really about their best interest. Mr. Mah like everyone else knows that the typical Ah Beng wants more opposition in parliament so long as there aren't any in his ward.
Let's face it, the 75% majority has always been looking for someone else out there to fight their battles, just don't bring the fight to their home turf.
With his mentor publicly assuring the electorate they will be made to pay a hefty price should they be stoopid enough to vote against the PAP (that is what a protest vote really is), Mr. Mah has every reason to be confident of victory. GRC implementation, minority representation and HDB ethnic quotas are all the other aces up his sleeve.
Most likely his opponents will be from the WP with an proven track record of bending over for the PAP whilst some of their very own senior members voted for the PAP candidate. Can't blame the WP though, their strategy is centered around the premise that the Ah Beng is a stoopid and unsophisticated creature who ends up fishing for the moon in the water, while all they have to do is sit around and do absolutely nothing.
The question the electorate at Tampines should ask themselves is this - will voting for WP make any difference in the end?
So who else is left? SDP? Well the very thought of incuring the wrath of LKY will likely scare the bejesus out of our Ah Beng.
LKY will personally see to it that Bangra dormitories are build all over Tampines making it a Bangra hub and every Bangra worker is housed in Tampines.
I'll wager MBT wins Tampines hands down. Any takers?
