Let's face it. Critical thinking is not part of the job scope of a PAP MP. As long as there's GDP growth, nothing else matters. They are like Pavlov's dogs to money. They would sell their mothers just to earn a profit. But the truth is, money is just a means to an end. Man does not live by bread alone. No point having GDP growth rates of circa 14% when much of it are siphoned away by MNCs and PAP cronies. No point inflating GDP growth with cheap labour from third world countries and incurring the negative externalities that come with them.

he 23SA rite, 120mm? that will have to be vehicle towed field piece. Not the same as that small mortar (60mm?) used by the msia. i also doubt he ever personally fire one round in his SAF career.

It was converted to 155mm howiitzer & man pack was not practiced for the 120mm towed during his time. :p

Nowadays, your neighbour is more likely to be a new FT from India or China. U think they so civic minded. They are not that kaypoh, and even if they are, they can't speak any singlish to save their lives. U tell them got a strange bangla hanging around the stairwell, u will see a blank look on the face of the PRC neighbour, the apuneh neighbour will tell u its his relative.

This I have to agree, fortunately for us, our precinct is still populated by true blue, sons of the land, extremely small percentage of FT's, so looking after each other is the norm.

spore polis always moan the lack of manpower. but they are not willing to increase the allowance of those part timers aka VC. I remember an article a couple years back that show VC are pay less than $3 per hour. To make matter worse, a VC must complete a certain amount of hours per week. Not many in their right mind will volunteer for this sort of slave-driver outfit. I remember the keling commissoner claim they dun want ppl who was only motivated by $$. WTF, even mcdonald pay higher for crying out loud. I personally think the home affair ministry should revamp the VC benefit entitlements in order to attract volunteer. i am a strong believer of the chinese saying "in the face of rewards, there bound to have brave man".

What lack of manpower are u talking about? There is not shortage of police manpower. U don't believe, u just ask any oppo leader. If Chee Soon Juan shows up with 4 other party members and start talking among themselves in a public place, I guarantee u 20 plus mata will show up to arrest them for unlawful assembly, even though nothing has been stolen, no one assualted, and no murder committed.

there is a shortage of manpower in spf. It is due to grave lack of manpower that mata reservists are being all up to a max of 40days per year. i have malay colleagues who keep going to ICTs several time a years. Suppose to be in KINS but got shove to the division aka police station.

As for the show of force for CSJ, that can be easily arrange. Most of CSJ stunts are known in advance, mata can easily arrange 30-40 polis. If CSJ really use covet tactic, i am sure the mata will gabra and find enough SOC personnel to the ang chia to the scene.
