Just checked with my lawyer about this issue. Indeed there is a lot of confusion..
Those medini projects which have 129 years, your SPA should have stated that extension of 30 years. State government will take note on that after approval. Exactly how, I don't know. In actual fact, the computerize system is not so flexible. They can only key in max 99 years into the system for leasehold property. There is no such thing as 129 years leasehold in their system.
So how do they keep track?
According to my lawyer, one of the ways for government could keep track is to re-key in(after 30 years) to 99 years. That means, if you have bought a Medini project which has 129 years leasehold in 2013, in actual fact, the system will show only 99 years leasehold. In 2043, they will update again to 99 year leasehold. What do they mean by update again? I have no idea. Malaysia Boleh
