MBT Admits Tampines Is Very Dirty

Actually, my meaning of politically correct was referring to GMS's argument on an MP's role:

"To put it simply, the main primary, sole, important job of MP is legislation...... Blah, blah, blah.
Goh Meng Seng"

Me no understand politics but he may be right although his reply pissed off many ppl. I was more amused by his further reply of to use the term "look after" instead of "take care".

Actually, GMS's statement is politically ridiculous.

The MP is the overall in charge, and as such, although he can delegate authority, he is ultimately responsible for what happens in his ward.

For GMS to say MP does not take care of the ward, is politically incorrect as it can be interpreted as a shirking of responsibility.

A MP can have great ideals to serve the people. But most importantly, he must be able to express himself correctly so that people can understand his ideals. If his intentions are good but express himself wrongly, by then you cannot say the people do not understand his real intentions. He has to find a way to bring his message across to the people from all walks of life who can understand what he really meant

Have you all considered that GMS's target is NCMP, and not MP?

GMS had already made it very clear here that winning Tampines is an uphill task for NSP. Although he pledges to "do his best", he probably calculated that based on current sentiments, he stands a very high chance of becoming a NCMP with the expanded quota on NCMP seats in parliament. As an NCMP, he gets the chance to make his presentation in parliament without having any MP responsibilities.

But what if NSP beats the odds and wins Tampines GRC?

In this instance, making his stand public on this issue will help him too. He can always use the victory to justify that he has the voters' backing on his notion of a MP's roles and responsibilities.

I am not sure whether he said this before. He doesn't want to be a NCMP

If he is a NCMP, well he can raise all the 'national issues' he want in parliament on 92 deaf ears for the next 4 years.

If he somehow by a fluke gets to win a GRC, if there is a God, help us all then

As some other forumers had suggested, he should stop expressing himself in an internet forum.

I do not know him but increasingly, I find him very unlikeable.

I also do not know him but increasingly doubt his credibility as an opposition.

Is he our new harban seng?

In this relatively anti-PAP forum, he still can't garner support. What's more the 66.6% pro-PAP public?

U don't have a choice. Given all the snafus, cock ups, and waste of taxpayers money in the last few years, the PAP has even less credibility as a govt.

I have noticed that he and his sidekick Aurvandil have not showe dup on this thread anymore. I guess they made their point clear, and its not the same as those points made on this thread.

GMS has mentioned before that he'll only take up the NCMP seat provided it comes with "FULL VOTING RIGHTS".

NCMP have some voting rights, they can vote on everything save the following:

1. amendment of the constitution,
2. public funds,
3. vote of no confidence in the government,
4. removing the president from office.

Still not enough for Capt GMS? It also comes with a 13K monthly stipend? His one vote by the way, tip no balances anyhow

if voters think that all they care about is making their own points, you should know the result... :)

This is a thread originally meant to bash MBT, but it turned out to a thread that bashed GMS. All MBT had to do is stay out of this forum.

No offence to GMS. He should really improve in this regard.

When people tell MBT that Tampines is dirty, he admit to it and say he will tackle this problem

When people tell GMS that he must take care of the ward, he said he look after only, not take care. People repeat again. He repeat the same answer

As a politician, whether you like it or not, say something that people want to hear. :o Unless the politician can afford to lose votes, then he can say whatever he like

Here and elsewhere, GMS has found his foot in his mouth ever so often. he thinks he can talk in riddles, use cheem language and expect peasantry to understand.

Ram, better take care AND look after him before he goes more astray.

It is far better to say,

"The MP's job is not only to look after the ward, but to be able to articulate the people's discontent on a national level etc....."
